11 Years of ANTSAND
October 20, 2014. I uploaded a photo of an airplane wing. It was my first post on a system I built myself. I was just happy it worked.
11 years later, that same MySQL database is still running. Same posts. Same system. But the frontend has evolved - jQuery to Vue2 to pure ES6.
I never rewrote it from scratch. Never migrated to WordPress. Never jumped to React. Just kept building, incrementally.
In 2025, AI is giving it new life. Not because I couldn't do it myself - but because of the mental exhaustion. Fix this CSS, then that backend bug, then the Volt template... I'd just close the laptop. 11 years of "I'll fix it later."
Now those friction tasks take hours instead of weeks. The things I was too lazy to fix - honestly too drained to fix - are finally getting done.
It feels special to maintain my own platform for 11 years. No one on this planet will find any value in what I built. But I don't care.
